Breitachklamm: choose your gorge route carefully

Breitachklamm lies near Tiefenbach in the Oberstdorf area, close to the Kleinwalsertal. Water, rock walls and narrow stretches of path shape the experience. Plan a specific gorge visit rather than treating it as an interchangeable stroll: your entrance and return route influence both the effort required and the overall scope of the outing.

Choose the entrance and return together

The operator identifies the main entrance at car park P1 in Tiefenbach and an upper entrance below Zwingsteg. Paths can generally be walked in both directions, but the available variants may change. Use the current route plan to decide between retracing your steps and a circuit, including the elevation profile of the climb out.

Understand the demands of the path

From Tiefenbach the path rises upstream, with some steeper and narrower sections. Wood, gravel and concrete surfaces alternate; drainage channels, steps and low rock projections require attention. Prepare with sturdy footwear and a good grip. The appeal of a dramatic gorge does not establish whether every route on offer matches your fitness or preferences.

Check again before travelling

Natural conditions and repairs can affect route arrangements and access. Read the official status notices and safety advice shortly before travelling. A closure applies even if a saved route description suggests otherwise. Leave room in your plans to reconsider the outing. Breitachklamm is a nature attraction for general visitors, rather than an experience reserved for adults.

Before your trip

  • • Plan the entrance, exit and return together.
  • • Read elevation profiles and step information.
  • • Check the operator’s status before travelling.

Experiences are not necessarily child-free. The minimum age applies to each hotel.
