An adults-only hotel on the Amalfi Coast suits you if you’d like to explore Amalfi on foot and end the day with a drink on a sea-view terrace. The hotel featured here welcomes guests aged 16 and over and is in Amalfi.

This selection includes one hotel. It suits couples who prefer an intimate town base to a secluded resort and want to divide their days between the old town, countryside and coast.

Why choose the Amalfi Coast for a child-free break?

Amalfi gives your stay a clear cultural centre: you can walk through narrow streets to Sant’Andrea Cathedral, discover the history of the maritime republic at the Chiostro del Paradiso, then linger in the piazza. It’s a good fit for couples who would rather wander through a historic town than plan the whole day around hotel facilities.

There are also well-marked routes into a different landscape. In the Valle delle Ferriere, follow a stream through cool gorges, past waterfalls, ferns and old paper mills. The Sentiero degli Dei runs above the coast between Agerola and Nocelle; along the way, the view opens across steep slopes towards the sea.

The coast offers more ways to see the area: a boat trip takes you to the Grotta dello Smeraldo near Conca dei Marini, while steps at the Fiordo di Furore lead down to a narrow cove between steep cliffs. You can fill your stay with the old town, a hike, a boat trip and a coastal cove, without doing the same thing every day.

Things to do on the Amalfi Coast: experiences for two

Amalfi and the cathedral

In Amalfi, follow the narrow streets to Sant’Andrea Cathedral. The Chiostro del Paradiso brings the history of the maritime republic to life; afterwards, sit in the piazza and watch the world go by.

Valle delle Ferriere – Amalfi

In the Valle delle Ferriere, a stream accompanies you through cool gorges. Waterfalls, ferns and old paper mills line the route, offering a peaceful contrast to the bustle of the coast.

Grotta dello Smeraldo – Conca dei Marini

On a boat trip to the Grotta dello Smeraldo, you can look into the cave at Conca dei Marini from the water. The light filtering in turns the sea green and gives you a different view of the coast.

Fiordo di Furore

Steps at the Fiordo di Furore lead down to a narrow cove between steep cliffs. At the bottom, linger by the water and share the view of the little bridge.

Sentiero degli Dei – Agerola to Nocelle

The Sentiero degli Dei runs above the coast from Agerola to Nocelle. The view stretches over steep slopes to the sea, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos along the way.

Our tip for adults: Terrazza di San Gennaro

Spend the evening at the Terrazza di San Gennaro in Praiano, as the sun goes down and the sea glows warmly. It’s a lovely spot for a peaceful end to the day, with a view of Praiano’s quieter side.

Getting there and practical tips

For flights, choose between Naples-Capodichino Airport (NAP) and Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport (QSR). The SS163 coastal road (Amalfitana) is the coast’s only road connection. During the summer months, seasonal driving restrictions apply on the SS163 to cars according to whether their number plates are odd or even; this also applies to hire cars. Motorhomes and vehicles towing trailers are not allowed year-round. From Naples Airport, the Alibus (ANM) runs to Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Municipio.

How to choose the right hotel

  • Decide whether you’d like to have Amalfi on your doorstep or would rather use another town as your base.
  • A minimum age of 16 works if everyone in your travel group meets this age limit.
  • A boutique hotel with a bar and lounge may suit you if you like to end the evening at the hotel.
  • The breakfast buffet is a plus if you like to start the morning with breakfast at the hotel.
  • A balcony or terrace is a good fit if having your own outdoor space matters to you.
  • Choose activities based on whether you’re more drawn to the old town and architecture, gorges and hiking trails, or boats and coves.
  • Amalfi suits you if you want a lively town; this hotel is less suited to a stay focused on secluded peace and quiet.
