Why choose Vorarlberg for a couples’ break?
Vorarlberg isn’t one uniform holiday setting: the three hotels are in three different valleys. Bezau is in the Bregenzerwald, Riezlern in the Kleinwalsertal and Fontanella in the Great Walser Valley. You can choose by landscape and hotel style first, rather than expecting one single, uniform region.
In the Bregenzerwald, village life and cheese culture go hand in hand. The Umgang Bezau-Reuthe takes you past old hay barns and buildings on a village walk; along the KäseStrasse Bregenzerwald, you’ll come across dairies and cheesemongers.
The Kleinwalsertal offers something different: near Hirschegg, the Gottesacker plateau lies beneath the Ifen, a pale karst landscape that contrasts with the green valleys below. The Kanzelwandbahn takes you up into the mountains from Riezlern.
Fontanella is in the Great Walser Valley. The Seewaldsee offers a peaceful place to stroll by the water and take in the mountain views.
Each excursion has its own appeal. The Wälderbähnle makes the journey through the Bregenzerwald an experience in itself, while the Umgang Bezau-Reuthe takes in the village and its cultural landscape. The KäseStrasse is all about local specialities and the links between craftsmanship and farming. In the Kleinwalsertal, you can choose between a walk through a striking rocky landscape and views across peaks and valleys. Plan your day around what suits you best: a train ride, a village stroll, a hike or a pause to enjoy the view.
The pace varies across these options, too. Historic carriages offer a fresh perspective on the landscape, without making the journey itself a hiking trip. On the Gottesacker plateau, pale rock and open space shape the experience; at Seewaldsee, the focus is on a gentle walk by the water. These differences can help you decide when the kind of experience you share matters as much as the destination.
